Dave Gilbert BVetMed MRCVS
Dave has worked as a vet and advisor in the dairy sector since 2005. Graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2005 he moved straight to a dedicated farm animal practice in Sussex, quickly focusing on dairy work. After working for a number of farm animal practices in southern England he moved into industry as a technical manager for a global pharmaceutical company. In 2011 he returned to dairy practice working with a variety of large herds, both grass based units and high input systems. Having settled on the Cheshire Shropshire borders he founded Horizon Dairy Vets in 2017.
Dan Humphries BVSc (Hons) MRCVS
Dan graduated from the University of Bristol in 2012 and went straight into dairy vetting starting with an internship and then staying on as an associate at a large dairy practice. Most of Dan's work is with high yielding herds, but Dan enjoys working with driven farmers from different systems looking to push on and become more efficient. He also does a lot of work in milk quality and udder health with dairy farmers across the UK and Europe. With Dave, Dan founded Horizon Dairy Vets in 2017.
Carmen Hill BSc BVSc MRCVS
Originally from the West Midlands, Carmen graduated from Bristol University in 2014. Early in her career she moved to New Zealand to learn the Spring block way before spending six years in Autumn block country around the southeast of the UK. After completing a short spell working with intensive indoor units around Gloucestershire and South Wales, she had recently moved to settle in Cheshire. Outside of veterinary, she is part of an autumn block dairy, arable and sheep business and is studying an Efficient Food Production degree in her part time. She loves talking about grassland management, organic farming and dairy financials.
Hannah Rainey BVM&S MRCVS
Hannah graduated from the University of Edinburgh, and after an initial foray into mixed practice decided that dairy practice was the way forward. She balances her time as a vet with a promising professional cricketing career, playing for Scotland and Lancashire Thunder.
Will Davy MRCVS
Will joins us from the University of Ghent, Belgium where he been working towards a PhD in Hoof Health in Dairy Cattle. After focusing on feet for the recent past he is excited to broaden his dairy vetting knowledge and experience whilst also continuing to offer training, CPD and consultancy in hoof health. Will's reputation in the sector has already been recognised here in the UK, as he has recently been appointed to the Cattle Hoof Care Standards Board.
Niall Jaggan BSc (Hons) MA
Niall enjoys variety! His academic background is in marketing, and after completing his Masters in the subject starting his career in automotive, a sector he has a passion for. He was approached to work for a leading pharmaceutical company – managing portfolios supporting the agricultural veterinary portfolios. Since arriving in the sector, he has never looked back, taking roles in the feed and biopesticide businesses. Niall supports the HDV from a marketing and business development perspective, and is also a qualified ATT
Haifa Masefield, BSc (Hons)
Haifa completed a degree in Equine Science and Sports Performance and has been working within the Farm Veterinary industry for the last 3 years predominantly as a TB tester. She has joined the team to continue testing and compliment the team with support in the office too. When at home the work does not stop as she assists her partner with their heifer rearing enterprise. In her spare time, she is kept busy with a 13-week cocker spaniel puppy and young sports horse, who will hopefully start climbing up the ranks to compete in Show Jumping in the next year.
